Wow, I just took a quick glance on the interwebbs, and wow! I was surprised at how rare it is.

From what I can briefly tell, a salvage yard visit may be in order, and it looks like 88-93 C/H bodies will have what you need, as well as a few other odd models as well. Issues with them are pretty much unheard of, so if yours are to blame for your issues, chances are another vehicle that still has theirs intact should get you fixed up.

Finally found purge valve but that was not the problem. Still creating a vacuum in gas tank and after driving for a while tank will "dent" in from it. When I leave gas cap off it is OK. Have also tried putting on new vented cap. Could it be a bad electrical connection to the valve or something? Have had a few people look at it and they say nothing seems wrong. Can I just drill small hole in gas cap or will that cause some other part to go bad? Very frustrating. Thanks for any input. Micheal

I wouldn't be quick to drill a hole, as it would be a great place for gas fumes to vent uncontrollably, moisture to be introduced to ethanol enhanced fuel (which loves sucking up water), and it would likely introduce a nice new vacuum leak too. I would double check vacuum line routing just to make sure nothing has been messed with in the last 30 years. Also, I need to read up on how the system works, but I would think that if it was designed to allow air to be introduced for ventilation, it would happen at the canister, so if something is plugged up or failed, not allowing air to flow where it should, it would probably be there.
