Is there a way to prevent brake fluid from dripping from the front caliper flex line once I remove the line from the caliper? A line clamp? A plug cap that screws onto the flex line?

Don't clamp the rubber brake line, it will damage it. You could remove the reservoir cap, place a piece of plastic wrap over the port, then reinstall the cap. That prevents the reservoir from venting through the cap and stop or at least slow down the flow.

You can buy plugs for them at auto parts stores, or you could tape an old bottle around the line to catch any fluid. I did see recently a tool that acts like a plug, but cannot find it online.

I've seen valve stems used as plugs for brake hoses.

Thanks everyone. Someone also suggested an "acorn" nut purchased at Home Depot. There is nothing wrong with my brakes, but after seeing MattStrike's post on painting his calipers, I am thinking of doing the same plus slapping on drilled/slotted rotors to dress up the old Bonnie. The weather is getting a little warmer so time to think of more needless ways to spend my limited fun money on.

You can use something heavy to depress the brake pedal. Be sure to unhook the battery so you don't drain it with the brake lights. The line might empty out, but the master cylinder won't.

Not sure where Detroit Muscle got theirs, probably off a Matco truck...

I have a kit of spring clamps for the purpose of blocking off hydraulic lines, brake lines, fuel hoses, power steering hoses, anything that might leak fluid.
It cost me £10 -$14 at the moment- I dare say similar kits are available in North America.

Roger.
