On 00+ there is a pull cable in the trunk, so I'd assume there is something similar on this gen.

There's the same pull cable in my Reatta from '89, so I'd assume there's something on your Bonne as well.

I didn't think there was a button, I thought that it just simply locked when the car was locked, and would release when the car was unlocked.

But again, I know the PA has a release in the trunk too. You may have to peel back the carpet to check it out.

There may not be a button, the dash has been off for three years so i dont remember i glanced for the handle ill look closer, otherwise i will throw the battery in and try unlocking the doors.

I don't remember if those cars had an electronic release or if it was like the 00+, where it's just a lock. Anyone know?

I don't think they did, been too long to remember for sure though. I would pull the carpet in the trunk and look for the release cable, could have fallen behind there at some point.

I recall it being a lock that was actuated with the power door locks. I don't remember if there was a manual lever in the trunk though. I do remember seeing something, but I could be confusing it with the PA also, which actually does have the electric release.

I would think there's some sort of release, just in case it doesn't disengage...

There is a release... look on the top drivers side of the trunk not far from where the fuel filler would be... Its part of the fuel door lock solenoid...
