Well, I'm finally getting this car back together. I have a few questions.

The engine is from a 1991 Bonneville and all the accessories and everything look the same but I wasn't sure?

I am reusing all the harnesses, hoses, etc off the park ave.

My question is the tranny was rebuilt January of 2010 and to my knowledge was only driven about 5 miles from when it was rebuilt to now.

Also, the motor has been without oil for a couple months as I cleaned it up and put some new gaskets on it.

So I'm thinking, turn the motor over first before letting it start to get the oil pumped around?

But is there anything I should do with the tranny? Or just wait and see what happens when I try to drive it?

I would crank it with no spark plugs, and no fuel until the oil pressure comes up to get it good and oiled with minimum load. For the tranny, I would check the level at first startup to make sure you are not running it dry as well.

Ok. So should I just pull the fuse/relay for the fuel pump then?

Or is there a different/better way?

That would probably be the easiest, and cranking without the sparkplugs allows it to crank freely with no compression.

Ok. So got everything in and wired up but I have one more thing.....

What is this? Where does it go?

It looks to be a vacuum line right in the center of the pics....
It comes down the frame rail on the driver (tranny) side of the car. The way it is in there it is facing the tranny (and it's not very flexible).

I can't seem to find anything else that isn't hooked up so I'm kind of at a loss to where it may hook up.

Also, the starter on this car has 4 leads. One large (line from the battery). One that hooks from the starter motor to the solenoid. And then 2 smaller leads. (one has a wire coming down around the tranny to hook up with starter)

I looked on our 94 SSEi and it only has 3 leads on the starter. (both the 88 park ave and 91 Bonneville had this same 4 lead starter.

So is one of the leads left hooked up with nothing or what?

Is it the one that is supposed to got to the left side of the cruise control module (that black box right by the writing on the transmission in your first picture)?

That is exactly what I thought at first and I double and triple checked the cruise control and that has it's own vacuum line already hooked up.

I wonder if it goes to the transmission modulator, or the charcoal canister in the left fender? Does that plug to the IAT sensor?

Nope already checked the vacuum lines and I can't seem to find anything that wasn't hooked up.

If you were looking at that plug that is already hooked up somewhere. Just wasn't hooked up when I took the pic. Sorry for any confusion.

So...was working on the park ave again today and I have no power at all to ANY of the car.

It is possible that the battery is completely dead so I hooked up our charger and set it for auto start (this normally gives full power to the car and gives enough power to start the engine) but it did absolutely nothing. Still no power....

So now I'm thinking:

Is it possible to connect a ground incorrectly?

Or is it possible I have the alternator/starter wiring messed up because I was have problems with that to begin with.
