Some of us still have a can (or 3) of R-12 (aka Freon) chill'n in our basements. Can you (Jr's 3800) please post the specs for Recharging our cars here (and in Tech Info) for the few, the proud and the brave that still hold onto our dearly depleted R-12. Thanks.

Mitch, this is what I got from the service manual... Looks to me like R12 is way more efficient at cooling than R134, But we all knew that already

Hope that helps.. And I will install this into tech info

#-o D'ah! I could'a looked that up if I head my reading glasses on. What I didn't realize was that the entire system has only 2.42 #'s of Freon???!!! So whenever I had to add a full can to recharge my system, I was really low!!!

And although I knew that R12 beats R134 for efficiency, I did not know the disparity was that great! Cool!!!

Yeah R12 is better in many ways.... And does have a better cooling effect...

R134 is not as good and runs at a higher pressure as well... as the temps go up with R134 the cooling ability really drops off... And if you are just a hair low on the 134 system, you cooling ability also drops...

I change everything to 134 just as its cheap to get R134... LOL

You are lucky to still have some R12 left :)
